The Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921 (left) is a re-invention in a more up to date (i.e larger) size of the original piece made by Vacheron for an American collector in 1921. The original model is very rare, and only 12 pieces are believed to have been produced and sold over a 10 year period between 1921 - 1931.
This style of watch, with an offset angled dial and crown at the usual 1 o’clock position, is known as a Driver’s watch. The reason for this is because when worn by a gentleman on his left wrist (as is/was seen as the correct wrist for a man to wear their wristwatch) the angle of the watch will be straight on when steering the wheel of your favourite vintage Mercedes.
Vacheron Constantin with the Historiques American 1921 Driver’s watch. So called because of it’s throwback styling in addition to the angle of the watch dial which makes reading the time easier when your hand is angled on the steering wheel of your 300 SL Gullwing :)

The Grandfather’s Pocket Watch
MAG engraved onto the back of a vintage Vacheron Constantin. The pocket watch itself is amazing but I am even more impressed by the design of the monogram!

Grieb & Benzinger, an independent brand from Germany has a knack of taking an existing vintage ‘prestige’ movement and incorporating it into one of their own creations, like this 1925 above, which houses a Vacheron Constantin movement from, yep, 1925 in a white gold case. Great refinishing and I love the anodised blue dial (and caseback, though I can’t find a pic of it at the moment :/ ). Added to the ‘want’ pile.
